Welcome to March Silver Sunday.....
'Tis the time of year that all the wee creatures of the earth come out to add magic and fantasy to our lives.
Fairies, Fae and Leprechauns scamper about the landscape applauding the arrival of spring!
Irish folklore was the inspiration for me to create my little fairy jars...containing magical fairy dust(german glass glitter). So in honor of the season of magic and lore I thought I would share my silver fairy jars with yee.
..........And music in the air,
And fairy wings upon the earth,
And mischief everywhere
The maids, to keep the elves aloof,
will bar the doors in vain,
No keyhole will be fairy proof
When green leaves come again... till green leaves come again.
~Fairy Song byThomas Haynes Bayly
So, if you're patient and vigil I'm sure you'll see the 'sidhe' (pronounced shee),in merry bands about the hawthorn tree or at feasts in gilded fairy palaces ......
If your looking for a bit of magical Irish folklore check out one of my favorite all time movies...
And don't forget to join in the giveaway....drawing March 24
(thanks Jill for making this cool button)
Have a bonny good Silver Sunday.......

ReplyDeleteWow!! I love this post. Makes me wish to be back in Ireland. Roan inish was fabulous - but I still think my all time fav is The Quiet Man. Tonight, my 8 year old and I are making a Leprechaun Trap. Using a simple box and spring wire with of course something "shiny" inside to lure him ~ I wish I had one of your gorgeous bottles. Also reading a Fab Irish story called "Becoming Finola", just to further get inthe spirit. Happy SS!
ReplyDeleteBeth, love all the glitz and glam! You have such a wonderful collection, and you are the shiniest hostess.

i love your little fairy bottles/jars !!! have to tell you a little story..for a show, i filled tiny little bottles with white glitter and called them "fairy dust bottles"......didnt sell many...2 comments....one...."oh..like cremated fairies??"...and "they look like little coke bottles"..and not the drink kind !!! I quit making those....hmmm
ReplyDeleteHey Junx' Shame on those who slammed your little jars...you're amazingly creative! Could they possibly of been referring to the the book Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book...it's hillarious...illustrations by Brian Fround and written by Terry Jones(of Monty Python)...Maybe you should resurect your jars AS "cremated fairies".....
ReplyDeletehave a great day!
Those bottles are just darling! Thank you for hosting this, I so enjoy browsing about everyone's silver collections.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check Netflix for the movie, looks interesting.
Bonny Good Sunday in deed! All that glitters IS NOT gold. German glass glitter! Lovely silver bottles that add sparkle to your day.
