First Coat of Paint....

After tearing up the rug from the floor and with a little resistance from the man we tore up the rug from the steps as well...ughh ,why, why do they think they know better?Well we entered the second phase of our "redo".

Paint!
First coat is done second coat is today!!!!  I picked a slightly grey, lavender called
Cloudy Dream (Benjamin Moore, only Benjamin Moore) So here's the result....of just one coat.

I never realized how incredibly bright and sunny that room is....I can't wait to start creating up there. Thanks for taking a peek and letting me share this fun adventure with you.

Things To Put Things In.....

Happy VBF...boby oh boy, there's just a few weeks left!  So much to do, so little time. Someone once told me that storage and organization are a virtue..hmmm well, I'll try. So here's my attmept at storage and organization on vintage black friday.

I picked up this very cool vintage spice tin with the jars just yesterday.  The little black coin purse holds pretty glass moon glow beads.  It's kinda cool to see what objects are suited as vessels for all your goodies. What do you store your favorite treasures in? Happy VBF!

And so it begins...

Well just this summer my lovely daughter ventured out into her own apartment. Although I miss her soooo much...I am so proud of her independence! She has the most adorable apartment that she's made into a home for her and her furry son "Spike".  The most adorable grand puppy ever!

Now did I mention I'm left home with two and a 1/2 men...one 15yr old one 51 yr old  and one furry and four legged....I am all alone in a sea of testosterone! How is it that dinner converstation now only consists of grunts groans and one word answers?    The problem is that I have no one left at home that gets my vintage grirly brain...oh well, I've got a plan! You know what they say when life gives you lemons...we'll this is gonna be a bit more complicated than lemonade but here it goes.....new studio!  Perfect get away, vintage ,creative inspirational ,serene and totally desingned and created by me...no compromise with the guys...me me me all the way... I just can't wait!

.....since my darling daughter moved away I now have and entire 3rd floor attic with two rooms....hmmmm might I say EMPTY! Can't wait to paint the walls and paint the floor and load it up with vintage treasures and finds. And alll my stuff that I have stashed in every nook and cranny of this old house.

At this point my scrunchy little studio is in my son's old baby room. The room I think could actually be a walk in closet..so I'm in there old red wall, ikea shade and all. Not quite the inspirational space I've always dreamed of...well at least not 'til now...so here are a few shots of the "now" studio...and a few shots of the soon to be new studio/stock and shipping room in all it' "before" glory....as you can see there's quite a bit of work to do...this 125yr old house is never easy to renovate...hopefully this will be smooth as gypsy silk.....

Happy Halloween VBF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy VBF!!!!!!! ....and Happy Halloween.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a little behind on the VBF post but I think it's well worth it I had to share my favorite vintage Halloween goodies.
This is my absoulute fav. vintage witch hat.  I stewed and stewed over buying it when I found it but just couldn't resist.  It's an old prop from a play...handmade in all it's vintage glory. So I went back to the vendor and bought it....I grinned and giggled all the way home from the flea market.  You know that grin, the. " I can't believe I found the coolest thing, at the fleamarket", grin?

......another totally cool vintage halloween witchy item is this great  witch's shoe. I like to think that she lost it as she flew off at midnight on her broom before turning back into a pumpkin.
.....my other two black vintage witchy items are my prized vintage ledger book and a Victorian era black cape. Black beads and lace embellish this beautiful embossed cape.  Have a wonderful Halloween weekend and a fabulous VBF!!!!!!!!!!!

Tarnished?

So here we are on another VBF (and for those of you that don't know the lingo.....check out Jill's hilarious post, that's Vintage Black Friday) I decided to pay tribute to patina. Black tarnished hotel silver is soooo yummy. Worn, time tested, patina is what gives all vintage lovelies character and substance. So, an ode to tarnish! Embrace the wear and know it's just a sign that something has been loved and handled over time. Could it have been polished and nurtured by someone famous or of historic importace? Did your great grandmother's mother drink her 4 o'clock tea while relaxing in the garden from it? Think about it.... Happy VBF!

Annual Gypsy Soiree '09

Despite it being the first night of the Phillies series against LA and an impending Nor'easter blowing in, the night was smooth as Gypsy silk!  So much fun and gypsy frolic you would have never known it was pouring rain outside. Friends from far and wide, neighbors and our die hard regular Gypsy gals all stopped by. Here's a few shots of the magical night!

Thanks Abbie for the awesome shots of the shoppers!

....and to the gypsy band of friends and family I thank you as always, couldn't have done it without you all!
Recap of the evening?
.....simply stated, "FABULOUS!"
